As far as I can remember I had a love for design. That love later grew into a passion for modern design, and this is what propelled me to open a furniture store.

 ABOUT KIOSK

PREMIER
SHOWROOM IN NORTH AMERICA

Kiosk began in 1994, in a small space along a narrow alleyway in midtown Toronto. Open to the Trade only and offering a curated selection of quality chairs and stools, Kiosk quickly became the go-to destination for a new generation of young innovative restaurant owners looking for furnishings that offered great value-added design and a competitive edge in Toronto and across Canada.

In the more than two decades since, many things have changed, including the growth of Kiosk’s residential home division, Kiosk Illuminate lighting division, Kitchens and an expanded Kiosk Contract division catering to corporate and institutional enviroments.

Through this evolution Robert Sidi’s passion for modern design has never waned. And this passion, now shared with his son Paul, has driven Kiosk to become Toronto’s leading modern furniture provider and one of the foremost design showrooms in North America.

DESIGN OF THE SHOWROOM

Courtyard-9.jpg

“In 2009, I turned to Omer Arbel, a friend and an exceptionally talented Vancouver-based architect, to design the new Kiosk showroom on King. The showroom had to be a deserving showcase for some of the world’s most distinctive contemporary furniture. It had to have great spatial complexity to engage the visitor and stimulate expectation and discovery. The showroom had also to offer the passersby a window into the exciting world of creative and innovative design that we at Kiosk are passionate about. “ - RS

At Kiosk, design is not just about product it is also about the surrounding culture and a way of life. The value added of creativity and innovation.

A key element of the project was to integrate the building’s three levels and create a natural flow through the 20,000-square-foot space.

Omer Arbel achieved this with a dramatic stair system with expanded floating landings. The varied display spaces were woven together to create a subtle path that engages the visitor in a journey of exploration.
