“Meeting the needs of patients and health care providers in a setting designed to evoke the experience and comforts of home.”
– Hariri Pontarini Architects
The furniture for this project was selected to create a warm and intimate atmosphere to give patients a home-like setting. Because of the sanitary requirements of a hospital, the material and finishes  had to be easy to clean. Leather and lacquer was favoured over more textured, germ-harbouring options. The stone and wood architectural elements however we successfully included by Hariri Pontarini through the use of coatings to meet health requirements.

In the lobby, centered around a Owen Sound stone fireplace, are pieces from Tacchini: sofas and armchairs from the Chillout collection, and Misura lounge chairs. Also featured are Marea side tables from Stua. Just behind the lobby, an ‘interactive’ space again featuring Tacchini’s Chillout collection as well as a setting from Stua of Gas chairs around a Zero table.
The second floor alcoves exemplify the focus on natural light by Pontarini. “The windows flood patient spaces with natural light and provide a connection to the outside world, making the hospital feel like a home.” Tacchini’s Misura lounge chairs soften those alcoves, shown here in warm morning light.

The third floor Client’s Lounge is a multi-use space and features another Stua setting of Gas chairs around a Zero table this time in lighter tones. Also from Stua is the Costura lounge chairs in red with Marea end tables.
“The 59,000 square foot addition brings much needed space and modernized amenities to augment and renovate the heritage-designated Victorian mansion.”
