About Kiosk

Built from a passion for modern design.

Kiosk began in 1994 as a small, trade-focused furniture store in midtown Toronto.

Its original edit of well-made chairs and stools quickly became a resource for a generation of innovative restaurants and design professionals. Over the three decades since, Kiosk has grown to include residential furniture, lighting, kitchens, architectural systems and a dedicated contract division.

The scale has changed, but the premise has not: bring together distinctive design, serious product knowledge and a setting that helps people understand how exceptional furniture can live.

A family point of view
Design has always been more than the objects. It is the culture and way of life around them.

Founder Robert Sidi’s enthusiasm for modern design now continues with his son Paul. Together, that shared point of view has helped establish Kiosk as one of Toronto’s leading modern furniture destinations.

The architecture

A building designed for discovery.

In 2009, Robert Sidi asked Vancouver architect and designer Omer Arbel to create Kiosk’s King Street showroom: a deserving setting for some of the world’s most distinctive contemporary furniture.

The building’s three levels are joined by a dramatic stair system and expanded floating landings. Long views, changing volumes and quieter display rooms establish a natural route through the 20,000-square-foot space—less a prescribed circuit than a journey of exploration.

The result gives furniture, lighting and architectural systems enough room to be experienced at their proper scale, while offering the street a window into the creative design culture Kiosk represents.

Designed to be explored.

Open galleries and more intimate rooms bring furniture, lighting, kitchens and architectural systems into conversation. Each setting offers a different sense of material, proportion and atmosphere.
